Set on Uganda’s eastern border with the Democratic Republic of Congo the Rwenzoris mountain range is still a wild frontier compared to Kilimanjaro and Mt Kenya.

Referred to as the Mountains of the Moon the Rwenzoris range contains Mt Stanley, Africa’s third highest peak at a height of 5109metres.

Once completely off limits to tourists due to internal fighting within Uganda the Rwenzoris has slowly seen a return of climbers and trekkers with between 2000 and 3000 people visiting the region every year.  The low numbers of tourists make the Rwenzoris range an untouched and magical place to visit and it is still very much a  realm of true adventures.

The Rwenzoris is made up of three major peaks, that of Mt Stanley 5109metres, Mt Speke 4890metres and Mt Baker 4843metres.  All the peaks can be accessed from the Rwenzoris main trekking route referred to as the Summit Circuit or the Bujuku-Mubuku, The circuit is around 30 miles in length and takes 6 days to complete with an extra day needed to summit Mt Stanley.
