Located on top of the Chukung glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse, Island Peak is the most sought after trekking peak because of its challenging geographical conditions and closeness to Mount Everest.

The trek starts with a flight into Lukla which acts a base for all expeditions into the Khumbu region.  From here we head for Namche Bazaar and the Shangri-la valley before reaching the Khumbu valley and the immense views of Mount Everest.

The trek also includes a visit to Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5545metres it offers outstanding views of Everest’s south west face, Lhotse, Nuptse and the Khumbu icefall.

The trek to the summit of Island Peak can be carried out by most people who have a good level of physical fitness and some experience of trekking at altitude.

The most technical part of the trek is a mixed rock and ice wall on a slope of 45 degrees.  Crampons, ice axes and ropes are used on this section and instruction in the use of all will be given before ascending this section.

The trek offers an excellent opportunity to experience one of the most famous trekking routes in the world while experiencing Sherpa culture and summiting one the most famous trekking peaks in the world.
