Equipment

On the majority of our expeditions accommodation will be in one of our many tents.  We use North Face, Mountain Hardware or Aztec tents as we have found these to be the most durable for the environment in which we operate.  Our tents are checked regularly for signs of wear or tear and are replaced on a regular basis.

Communication within the group and to the outside world is an important aspect of any expedition.  All our guides carry short wave radios for communication between camps and a member of staff carries a satellite phone in case of emergencies.  Satellite phone time can also be purchased for use by clients on all expeditions.

Every head guide carries a large first aid kit with stocks to cure most minor and some major ailments while on an expedition.  For peaks over 6000 meters we routinely carry a Gamow Bag.  The Gamow bag is an inflatable pressure bag that is large enough to fit a person inside. If anyone on the expedition gets an extreme form of altitude sickness they can be placed inside the bag. The bag is then inflated by a foot pump decreasing the effects of altitude by as much as 1500 metres.

Other items of equipment we supply are sleeping mats, solar chargers for small electrical devices, tables and chairs in mess tents and walking poles if needed.
