About us

Lava Expeditions is run by mountain people for people who enjoy the mountains.  The company was started in 2003 offering treks on Kilimanjaro but it has since grown to offer treks and technical climbs on many mountains spread over four continents. 

Through experience gained from many expeditions, we are able to offer clients a safe and unique mountain experience in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.  Safety for our clients and members of staff is of key importance on all our expeditions.  Our guides have many years of mountain experience and a vast knowledge of the environments in which they work.  All our mountain guides are trained in first aid at altitude and our climbing and safety critical equipment is sourced from Europe and replaced on a regular basis.

We understand that the environments in which we operate are among some of the most delicate on the planet.  Each mountain has its own unique eco system and through the continual training of our staff we are able to understand and lessen our ecological footprint.

We make sure that our mountain staff are supplied with the correct protective clothing for the environment in which they will be operating.  The good working relationship we have with our local staff is passed on to our clients through the service they receive while on any of our expeditions.

Our overall ethos at Lava Expeditions is to support the local populations and environments through training and to offer our clients safe and affordable adventures at altitude.
